IM
IM meant something different to me and my family then, it was where our bread and butter money was made. The place was passed down to my uncle dave from my grandpa when he died. My uncle gave all of the four brothers a job there. It was one building down from my grandmas so after school I'd go over to see my dad in shipping and receiving. He usually was sweating back there with a cig hanging out of his mouth. I was always happy to see him. Sometimes we would go down into the basement to see all of the amazing machinery contained therein. There would be metal shavings from the custom tools they had made, all over the place, I always wondered how they got the shavings out of there? Sometimes I can remember seeing my dad toss those full fifty gallon drums around like they were empty. He was a strong man. If you went up front it was all business, mostly suit and tie. Kinda seemed stuffy to me and uptight, I liked it better in the back. The building between my grandmas and IM had an apartment upstairs and I think we lived there once. In later years my cousin and his wife lived there but that was after the company had been sold. Ah... engrams.
